Considered 'the Apple' of wind power and reputation for "doing its own thing". The company is owned by the Wobben Foundation. This puts it in a position where it is unlikely to be sold off in the same way as Senvion has to private equity company Centerbridge. Enercon is perhaps best known for its 7.5MW turbine and its refusal to enter the offshore market. Enercon has also faced its 'issues', most notably its battle with estwhile subsidiary Enercon India. While it has a reputation for technical excellence its aloof reputation has gained it few friends in the industry.
